The 1990s will make the 1960s look like the 1950s
This is running joke when John and Merlin are talking about Ye Olden Times. The numbers vary for every instance, but the principle is always the same: Some time period will look differently when seen in retrospect further down the line. The bit originates from a quote by Dennis Hopper in the movie Flashback that goes: "The 90's are going to make the 60's look like the 50's."
